Emergency Express Design Build Bridge Replacement, SR 1137 (Crystal Springs Road) over Buckhead Creek
Wetherill Engineering was responsible for an emergency express design build bridge in Divisions 6 in Cumberland County. This bridge approach was damaged by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. Our Design Build Team was awarded the project in May 2017, plans were completed and approved by NCDOT by mid July 2017 and the bridge was completed by December 2017 (60’ 21” Cored Slab Bridge – Spans of 1@50’). The scope of work for the emergency express design build project included roadway design, structural design, hydraulic and drainage design (including FEMA modeling), corridor modeling, traffic control, utility design/coordination, preparing permit drawings, erosion control, supplemental surveys, and right of way staking. As lead designer, WEI coordinated all design/plan preparationwith subconsultants and the primecontractor to optimizedesign and construction costs. WEI coordinated with the primecontractor to determine controlling operations and prioritizingdesign/plan preparation work tasks. WEI monitored workscheduling (including time allowances for third party input) toassure completion of tasks on or ahead of milestones. |
