The Village at Cleveland Springs

Civil / Site Design

This 74-acre residential development is located adjacent to Summerwind Plantation, a 190-acre residential development also designed by Wetherill Engineering

For the first phase of this project, WEI prepared the site plan (including landscaping) for the 1.7 acre amenities site, which features a community/recreation center and pool.  The services provided included hydrologic analysis and design of the stormwater management systems, grading and pavement design, erosion and sediment control plans, public water distribution and transmission system, sanitary sewer collection, and outfall systems.

For the project’s second phase, WEI prepared the construction drawings for a 33-acre site that will contain a 109 single family home subdivision.  The rolling topography has Neuse River jurisdictional streams and buffers. The site plan includes layout, grading, drainage, hydrology, three wet ponds, stormwater detention designs, roadway layout, 4,850 LF +/- of gravity sanitary sewers, a 300 gpm duplex submersible pump station with +/- 3,000 feet of 6” force main, and two proposed 8” aerial sanitary sewer gravity lines (8” Class 52 restrained joint pipe within 16” steel encasement pipes). The first aerial sewer will be approximately 85 LF in length and the second aerial sewer will be approximately 50 LF in length.

The project also includes potable water system layout, erosion control, and permitting. The force main design included a 16” steel encasement jack and bore with a 6” DIP forcemain installed beneath an NCDOT maintained roadway. The efforts included coordination with Johnston County Public Utilities, NC Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (NC Division of Water Quality), and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
