One of the eleven bridge replacement projects WEI received from the NCDOT's Group XIII Bridge Replacement Contract, this project presented challenges due to its location in the center of downtown Raleigh while also being surrounded on three sides with historic property. The transportation staff conducted several public hearings, workshops & general meetings with NCDOT, the City of Raleigh, Citizens Advisory Council, & the Appearance Committee to develop several designs which minimized the impacts to the landscaping while being able to handle the heavy traffic flow.
